How does it work?
LIPOSOMAL explained in 3 steps.
- 1EncapsulationOur LipoSone® technology packs the active into tiny, spherical liposomes made of phospholipids.
- 2ProtectionThe liposomes envelop the active and protect it from stomach acid and digestive enzymes.
- 3AbsorptionThis way it reaches the bloodstream far more efficiently – for higher bioavailability.
What is liposomal vitamin B12?
Liposomal vitamin B12 is vitamin B12 packed into liposomes. Liposomes are microscopically small vesicles made of phospholipids – the same building blocks that make up the membranes of your body's cells. This shell protects the vitamin on its way through the stomach and gut.
Vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in foods of animal origin. The body absorbs it via a dedicated transport pathway that can only handle a small amount per meal. This is exactly where the liposomal form comes in. More about liposomes →
Liposomal vitamin B12 vs. B12 tablets: the difference
In tablets and capsules, vitamin B12 is present in pressed or powdered form. In our liquid product it is embedded in liposomes made of sunflower phospholipids. You take it by the spoonful, without having to swallow tablets.
There is no dedicated absorption study for this product. We have investigated the liposomal technology behind it for other active ingredients in our own studies. See our studies →

Frequently asked questions about liposomal vitamin B12
Liquid liposomal vitamin B12 or tablets: what is the difference?
Liposomes are tiny vesicles made of phospholipids that are stable in liquid. That is why we offer liposomal vitamin B12 as a liquid. You take it by the spoonful or stir it into a drink.
Methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin: what is the difference?
Both are active forms of vitamin B12, i.e. the forms in which the body uses the vitamin. Our product contains both.
How much vitamin B12 per day makes sense, and why 7200 % of the reference value?
The recommended intake is 10 ml per day, which is 180 µg vitamin B12. The body absorbs only a small part of a single serving, which is why higher amounts are common in food supplements. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has not set a maximum level for vitamin B12.
How long does it take to replenish vitamin B12 stores?
That depends on the starting level and can only be assessed by means of blood values. If you suspect a deficiency or one has been diagnosed, treatment belongs in the hands of a doctor.
Is liposomal vitamin B12 suitable for vegans?
Yes. Vitamin B12 is found almost exclusively in foods of animal origin; our product is vegan.
Vitamin B12 or B complex: which one suits me?
This product specifically provides vitamin B12. If you would like all eight B vitamins in one product, we offer the liposomal B complex.
Is liposomal vitamin B12 suitable for children?
Yes, our liposomal vitamin B12 is also suitable for children, but at a reduced dose: 2.5 ml per day for children aged 1 to 4, 5 ml for ages 5 to 8 and 7.5 ml for ages 9 to 12. For children aged 4 and over there is also our dedicated All-in-One for kids.
Does vitamin B12 have side effects, and who should not take it?
Our liposomal vitamin B12 is designed to be well tolerated. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication regularly, consult a doctor before taking it.
How long does liposomal vitamin B12 keep after opening?
After opening, keep the bottle in the fridge and use it up within 6 weeks. Unopened, it is best stored between +2 and +21 °C.
Significantly optimised absorption
In independent studies we have demonstrated a manifold higher bioavailability for numerous actives – e.g. magnesium 5×, vitamin C 12× or curcumin 47×. Thanks to the protected liposomal encapsulation, a significantly optimised absorption can be assumed for this product too.
See our studies →If it makes no real difference, we do not sell it.
That is why every ActiNovo product uses our liposomal LipoSone® technology – for over 10 years, for more and more actives, proven in 9 of our own studies. What you find here has earned its place.
